Specially in these days when many of us must be confined to our homes, Second Canvas apps offer us the possibility of virtually visiting at the best quality, the collections of many museums, and enjoying, as if we were in a guided tour, narratives that explain each of his works of art with stories about details, characters, technique and much more. Then we have decided to create a list with all the apps, so that it is easy to download, from a single site, the app or apps that each one wants.

Museo Belas Artes da Coruña (Spain)

The collection of the Museo de Belas Artes da Coruña comprises a good number of pieces of painting, drawing, sculpture, engraving, decorative arts and archeology. The collection began to form at the end of the 19th century and gradually grew thanks to the involvement of different donors, artists, groups and public institutions. Among the deposits, the paintings belonging to the Prado Museum stand out. Other institutions collaborated in the creation of the museum’s collection, such as the Xunta de Galicia itself. The donation of works to the museum was very intense too. In the last decades, the museum’s acquisitions program tried to complete the vision of Galician art from the XIX to the present day.

This exceptional set, made up of more than 12,600 pieces, has an outstanding set of paintings, drawings and engravings by Goya, relevant examples from El Bosco, Lucas Cranach the Elder, El Greco, Murillo, Zurbarán, Claudio Coello , Luis Paret or Federico de Madrazo, as well as a miniature on parchment by Giulio Clovio and two bronzes by Giambologna. Possibly the most unique work in the museum is the painting El Salvador Joven, made in Leonardo da Vinci’s workshop based on a lost design by the master.

Their first collections arrived from the Prado Museum, bringing together an interesting collection of artworks from the Catalan art scene (Sorolla, Casas, Nonell, Sacharoff, Tàpies, Torres Monsó, Zush and Pazos) and the Empordà in particular (Dalí, Santos, Reig, Vallès, Planells, Massanet, Gabriel and Mitjà). The collection includes archaeological works, medieval art and Baroque paintings.

Located in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, it houses some 2,200 paintings and extensive collections of drawing and engraving, sculpture and decorative arts, both national and foreign. Two capital paintings by El Bosco and Durero stand out along with others by European masters between the 15th and 19th centuries such as Memling, Piero della Francesca, Carpaccio, Rafael, Cranach and Joshua Reynolds. It also has a sculpture by Rodin, more than 5,000 drawings (Perugino, Poussin, Géricault), valuable pieces of Rococo gold and testimonies of Portugal’s colonial past.
Museu Nacional de Arte de Catalunya (Spain)

Located in the city of Barcelona (Spain), it stands out for its collection of Romanesque art, considered one of the most complete in the world. From the Gothic period the museum shows pieces made using various techniques that serve to illustrate this historical period in Catalonia. In the section dedicated to the Renaissance and the Baroque period there are two tablets by Bartolomé Bermejo, a Martyrdom of Saint Bartholomew painted by Ribera, a Virgin with the child and saints by Giambattista Pittoni, an Immaculate Conception by Zurbarán and a famous Saint Paul by Velázquez, one of the few safe paintings by this artist preserved outside the Prado Museum. However, this section of the museum was incomplete and improved considerably with the private collection of Francesc Cambó and a deposit from the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum.

Prado Museum – Bosch masterpieces (Spain)

It is a new app, with new digitizations in gigapixel format of the works of the Flemish master: The hay cart, the Adoration of the Magi and the Table of Capital Sins. On this occasion, in addition to the interior panels of the triptychs, the exteriors have also been digitized, thus showing a part of these works little known until now, which allows access to the door closings and the scenes found in them.

Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum (Spain)

The Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum (in Spanish, the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, or simply the Thyssen), is an art museum in Madrid, Spain, located near the Prado Museum on one of city’s main boulevards. It is known as part of the «Golden Triangle of Art», which also includes the Prado and the Reina Sofia national galleries. The Thyssen-Bornemisza fills the historical gaps in its counterparts’ collections: in the Prado’s case this includes Italian primitives and works from the English, Dutch and German schools, while in the case of the Reina Sofia it concerns Impressionists, Expressionists, and European and American paintings from the 20th century. With over 1,600 paintings, it was once the second largest private collection in the world after the British Royal Collection.
