Participate in
scModules project
Explore new possibilities for artwork digitized in super-hi resolution and, at the same time enjoy certain unique advantages.
What is scModules?
The scModules project has been selected by the EU to participate in their H2020 program. The goal of the H2020 programme is to ensure that Europe produces world-class science, removes barriers to innovation and makes it easier for the public and private sectors to work together in delivering innovation.
The objective of scModules is to identify and explore new opportunities (dissemination, accessibility, new business models, etc.) that can be developed related to super-hi resolution (SHR) digitizations of museum collections.
The project is co-financed by the EU through the H2020 program and by Madpixel, the world’s leading company in super-hi resolution artwork digitization. Madpixel also leads in making digitized art accessible, by means of their Second Canvas solution, an online platform for creating and publishing interactive experiences based on super-hi resolution images.
What does it involve?
Throughout the project we will develop, in collaboration with a selection of participating museums and public institutions, different pilot projects that allow us to explore (and reach conclusions) in 3 areas:
IDENTIFY
Needs identification regarding this type of images, both functional and of other areas; and testing the functionalities that are developed to resolve them.
RESEARCH
Research and testing of new models for disseminating/publishing these contents, such as digital expositions and educational uses.
NETWORK
Creation of a shared environment (network), which opens up opportunities for museums to collaborate (and do business as well) with other museums and third parties, based on these types of content.

Who can participate?
The call primarily targets the GLAM sector (galleries, libraries, archives, museums) with special focus on both public and private institutions which manage collections and artistic/cultural heritage. There are also opportunities for other types of actors, such as cities, companies that create educational material, and others that can participate in some of the pilots that are carried out: digital exhibits, etc.
Why are you interested in participating?
If you are a museum or institution that manages the type of content mentioned, besides the experience and know-how that participating in the pilot projects will give you, your institution will benefit from certain unique advantages:

free of charge.
1 License and Second Canvas App for free
